Trump: “Now It’s My Turn” to Investigate

On Sunday, President Trump posted a Mothers’ Day greeting on his official Instagram account which as of this writing has garnered 5,484 comments and 255,111 “Likes.”
Following that was a graphic of Trump framed by the words in all capital letters, “Hope you had fun investigating me,” and “Now it’s my turn.”
The message is undoubtedly indicative of the unraveling of the criminal case against Trump’s first national-security adviser, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (Ret), who Trump terminated on February 13, 2017 after it appeared Flynn was not honest with Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with then-Russian ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak during the late-2016 transition period.
On Thursday, the Justice Department asked U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan to approve its request to withdraw the government’s prosecution of Flynn initiated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged “collusion” between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russian operatives.
Flynn pleaded “guilty” to one count of lying to the FBI on December 1, 2017 but in January of this year moved to withdraw the plea under new counsel.
In February, Attorney General William Barr appointed U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri Jeffrey B. Jensen to probe the Flynn investigation, which Flynn’s new counsel, Sideny Powell, claimed in multiple interviews was riddled with government misconduct and the withholding of “Brady,” or exculpatory, evidence involving her client. It was Jensen who advised Barr “to dismiss the case.”
In March 2019, Mueller’s team turned in its report to Barr in which it said that no clear evidence of “collusion” or conspiracy was identified between Trump campaign operatives and the Kremlin. Trump had constantly termed the 22-month probe a “witch hunt.”
On today’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA22), who in 2018 chaired the House Intelligence Committee as it investigated the FBI’s alleged abuse of the FISA-warrant application process as it pertained to former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, said that high-ranking FBI agents had told the committee that Flynn had not lied to them, causing Nunes and others to question Mueller’s referral of Flynn for prosecution and whether or not the FBI had been candid with Congress.
Two Sundays ago, Bartiromo had reported that her sources said Flynn would be “completely exonerated” during the coming week.
Multiple news outlets have begun to focus on emerging evidence that then-White House occupant Barack Hussein Obama apparently had knowledge of, and likely directed, the FBI’s electronic capturing of Flynn’s calls with Kislyak as well as the agency’s pursuit of the Trump-Russia “collusion” narrative.
According to Trump, during a November 10, 2016 meeting with Obama prior to his inauguration, Obama told him that the two items about which he needed to be most concerned were nuclear-armed North Korea and Flynn, who had been Obama’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) director.
In 2014, Flynn was reportedly fired by then-Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper for having labeled Middle-Eastern terrorists “radical jihadists” and other differences of opinion with the Obama regime.
Last week, under pressure from Acting DNI Rick Grenell, current House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA28) released more than 50 transcripts from the “collusion” investigation demonstrating that none of those interviewed possessed evidence that anyone from the 2016 Trump campaign conspired with Russian operatives, despite many whose public statements indicated the opposite.
In addition to Obama’s participation, Molly Hemingway of The Federalist wrote on Friday, “An analysis of the timeline from early 2017 shows a clear pattern of behavior from the federal officials running the collusion operation against the Trump campaign. It also shows how essential media leaks were to their strategy to sideline key law enforcement and intelligence officials and cripple the ability of the incoming Trump administration to run the country.”
Last year, Barr appointed U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut John Durham to probe the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation which reportedly involves probing of possible “criminal” conduct on the part of government personnel.
