Did A Shadowy Anti-Trump ‘Cabal’ Help Sway 2020 Election Outcome?

Democrats and their allies in the media and on the extreme left have repeatedly taken Republicans to task for insisting that the 2020 presidential election was tainted by fraud and collusion. But Time magazine has now spilled the beans: There was a well-hidden, behind-the-scenes effort against former President Donald Trump.
Time’s online publication dubbed its big story “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election,” clearly intending to applaud those who interfered in our national election for their good work.
Instead, it’s a shocking indictment of the cynicism and manipulation that the Democrats and their friends brought to bear on the 2020 presidential race.
Time’s reporting shows that the post-election, at least in one major respect, was not on the up-and-up. Reporter Molly Ball notes that even as the election ended and Trump legitimately raised questions about statistically improbable results in many key cities, many of those who had once supported him suddenly insisted that he cave and concede defeat.
As Trump would say on Dec. 2: “It was all very, very strange. Within days after the election, we witnessed an orchestrated effort to anoint the winner, even while many key states were still being counted.”
Time’s Ball wrote: “In a way, Trump was right” about what she called a “shadow effort”:
There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans. The pact was formalized in a terse, little-noticed joint statement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO published on Election Day …
(It became) a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information. They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it.
That’s right, a “conspiracy” and “shadow effort” to “influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information.” In other words, a secret campaign to shut up Trump and his 74 million supporters and deny them their right to question the outcome of a hotly contested election. In the poisoned atmosphere that has ensued, anyone daring to voice concerns about the election’s possible fraud has been threatened or severely punished.
It’s a virtual institutional war against any and all Trump supporters.
As American Thinker founder Thomas Lifson noted last month before the Times’ revelations: “After four years of Democrats claiming Trump’s election was illegitimate based on a phony charge of Russian collusion, suddenly, questioning a presidential election is taboo.”
Lifson was onto something there. Dozens of conservatives have been deplatformed by social media for exercising their First Amendment rights to free speech in saying they thought the 2020 election was fraudulent and calling for a recount or audit of the results.
Americans spent four years during Trump’s term undergoing repeated investigations of the former president for alleged “collusion” with the Russians during the 2016 election – something that has been shown to be false. Yet, the source of this lie, Hillary Clinton, now runs free and has the chutzpah to call those senators who vote to acquit Trump his “co-conspirators.”
Some, such as renowned constitutional scholar John Eastman and Rep. Elise Stefanik, have lost jobs or advisory positions due to their pro-Trump comments. Meanwhile, 39 GOP House members have been threatened with censure or removal from the chamber for voting to overturn the election results, despite the 2020 election’s very clear irregularities.
Ball’s claims that the effort was merely intended to make sure the election was “free and fair, credible and uncorrupted” are laughable.
The move was intended purely to grease Joe Biden’s way into the White House, even as Trump and other Republicans voiced legitimate misgivings over voting irregularities. Those behind it, including the once-respectable Chamber of Commerce, bear responsibility for trampling on our rights to a fair election.
Without an investigation or audit, we’ll never know for sure if the 2020 election was valid or not. But then, that was the point of all this, wasn’t it?
As we’ve seen, Biden’s own commitment to democracy is highly suspect. His 38 executive orders through Feb. 11, the most ever for a president’s first days in office, is a display of autocratic power not seen since the eras of Woodrow Wilson and FDR — our nation’s two most autocratic presidents.
By contrast, today Trump is undergoing a kangaroo-court, faux-impeachment in the Senate for “incitement” that is plainly unconstitutional and intended to do damage to him personally and financially. The verdict doesn’t matter; the point is to sully Trump’s reputation and neuter him as a political threat.
The message is one of fear: Don’t disagree with us, or you’ll be deplatformed from social media or, worse, lose your job or an influential position. The Chamber of Commerce, unions and the “cabal” of others who took part in this effort politicized themselves, in effect serving as arms of the Democratic Party. Next time someone calls election fraud a “myth,” remind them of this.
